HAPPITeen Camp


This year Christmas was very different from the past. I didn’t spent it with my family, neither did I spent it with my lovely friends (I’m sorry friends), nor did I get to see the beautiful lighting decoration and hear Christmas melody on the day itself. I spent my Christmas at Camp Christine helping up for HAPPITeen Camp.

In my whole 20 years of life, I only attended 2 camps before. One is Secondary 2 Adventure camp and the other one is the S.I.T. Club – Ironman Camp. These 2 camps are 2 extremely different camps. One was rather slack, while the other one was very fierce physical training. Last weekend, I just added 1 more camp experience into my 20 years of life.

This HAPPITeen Camp was very different from the 2 camps I been before and it’s also the first time I helped in a camp, it’s a Buddhist Camp, for your information. I have a nice experience helping out in this camp, although I get myself really really really dirty, wet and itchy, which I hate the most, when I was making the water bomb and playing the games. And most of the games involved water bombs which make me feel as though I have helped in a Water Bombs Camp instead.


All 3 days were all about made water bombs, played games and got wet and dirty.


Most memorable moment that took placed

On day1, during the night games, Lawrence hit me very hard, a few time by mistake thinking that I’m the camper when Ang Hwee was talking to Siyan and me.

On day2, during the games “around the world” (If I am not wrong) Ah Xian splashed algae that was left in the forest for –I–don’t–know–how–long– on me when the group was asking for more point! Selina shouted at Ah Xian. I was extremely angry, because it was ALGAE! I was super paranoid after that splashed, but did not deduce any point from them. That splash was the most disgusting thing ever. It is worst than walking on muddy soil or got myself wet by rain or water bombs. And yes, whenever I saw algae, it reminds me of Ah Xian.




On day 3, during the campfire, I cried when seeing the parents passed the present to their children, especially when the song “You raise me up” was played. The lyrics of the song was super meaningful. And I promised that scene was really really touching and Raymond was really irritating for teasing me. And not forgetting, a boy specially gave me a Ferrero Rocher when the campfire is coming to an end, if I’m not wrong his name is Eugene. I believe is the little action that I did that makes him feel love. Thus, I was given chocolate as a little reward from him. I looked at the chocolate when Lawrence was talking to the children above 10 years old. Not because I want to eat it but was thinking my little actions actually make those children feel they are love.


The little girl took my phone and self-took photos of yourselves. She's so cute. Everyone there was nice. Of course, I make a lot of new friends with both the organisers and some of the campers.


This camp was meant for Teen, thus all the campers were below the age of 21 and it did make me feel that I am really old. However, this camp make me understand how fortunate I am and to be gratitude.

I actually have the feeling of ‘missing the camp’.

I am thankful to have this opportunity to help out in this Buddhist Camp although I am not a Buddhist.




Side note: My dad did not object me in helping the future Buddhist Youth Camp Events. ((:
